About EcoGroup
Recycle Right. Build Smart.
EcoGroup started with a simple idea: useful building materials should not be treated like waste.
Since 1991, that idea has continued to shape what we do.
EcoGroup has grown from landscaping and brick recycling into an Australian-owned resource recovery business working across Construction and Demolition recycling, reclaimed brick supply, recycled construction materials, demolition, excavation and site works.
From our Clayton facility, we work with demolishers, builders, bricklayers, architects, landscapers, councils and contractors to recover more from construction, keep valuable materials in circulation and find practical new uses for what already exists.
35+ years in operation
30,000+ tonnes of C&D material processed annually
Over 90% landfill diversion
Australian owned
We Work Across More of the Material Journey
From the moment materials leave a site through to the point they are ready to be used again, EcoGroup connects resource recovery, processing and recycled product supply within one operation.
That gives valuable construction materials more opportunity to stay in circulation rather than being unnecessarily lost from the construction cycle.
Construction & Demolition Recycling
Our Clayton facility receives, sorts and processes Construction and Demolition materials including bricks, timber, concrete and other recoverable materials.
Suitable materials are separated for reuse or processed into products that can return to construction, landscaping and other practical applications.
Reclaimed Bricks
Bricks have been part of EcoGroup from the beginning.
Today, we recover, clean, sort and grade reclaimed bricks for use across new builds, extensions, renovations, restoration projects, landscaping and outdoor spaces.
Depending on available stock, our range can include Face Reds, Rustic Reds, Red Blue Clinkers, Creams, Hawthorn Blacks, Solid Commons and Pavers.
Rather than treating reclaimed bricks as a random mix, we sort and batch them to make it easier for builders, bricklayers, architects and homeowners to find materials suited to the project.
Crushed Brick
Recovered red brick material can continue working long after its first use.
Our crushed brick products are used across applications including landscaping, drainage, pathways, driveways, baseball diamonds and traditional red tennis court surfaces.
Recycled Timber Products
Recovered Australian timber is processed into practical mulch products for gardens, landscaping, orchards and larger outdoor projects.
Different grades allow customers to choose a product suited to the finish, coverage and application they need.
Demolition, Excavation & Site Works
Our capabilities extend back to the beginning of the construction process through demolition, excavation and site remediation.
Connecting these services with our resource recovery operation gives us more opportunity to identify useful materials early and find an appropriate pathway for reuse or recycling.
Our Clayton Resource Recovery Facility
Our Clayton facility sits at the heart of EcoGroup.
It is where construction and demolition materials are received, assessed, separated and processed to determine the most appropriate next use.
Bricks may be cleaned and prepared for reuse. Timber can become recycled mulch. Recovered brick material can be processed into crushed products. Other construction materials are separated into appropriate recovery streams.
The aim is straightforward: identify what still has value and put it back to work wherever practical.
EcoGroup’s Resource Recovery Centre is Green Star certified and undergoes regular auditing and reporting around material recovery and processing. This also allows us to support clients working towards waste reduction, environmental reporting and Green Star aligned project outcomes.
It Started With Bricks
EcoGroup began in Clayton in 1991 when founder Toby Sail saw an opportunity to recover and reuse building materials that still had plenty of life left in them.
What started with landscaping and brick recycling gradually grew into a broader approach to demolition, resource recovery and recycled material supply.
That original mindset has never really changed.
We continue to look for practical ways to recover more, process materials better and create useful products from construction materials that might otherwise be lost.
1991
EcoGroup begins in Clayton with landscaping and brick recycling.
1999
The business expands into demolition and broader material salvage and reuse.
2007
EcoGroup launches its contracting arm and invests in semi-automated brick cleaning technology.
2011-2014
Research and investment expand into timber recovery and new uses for demolition materials.
2015 onwards
EcoGroup develops greater capability across demolition, recycling, remediation and larger Victorian projects.
Today
EcoGroup continues to invest in resource recovery, recycled product development and practical ways to keep construction materials in circulation across Victoria.
The People Behind EcoGroup
Resource recovery takes more than machinery.
It takes people who understand demolition, construction materials, processing, logistics, compliance, customers and the practical realities of getting projects done.
EcoGroup brings together experience across operations, resource recovery, research and development, recycled materials, sales, project delivery, finance and customer service.

Practical Resource Recovery
For EcoGroup, sustainability is most useful when it results in something tangible.
A brick gets reused. Recovered timber becomes mulch. Brick material finds a new application. Construction materials remain in circulation rather than being unnecessarily sent to landfill.
That practical mindset has guided EcoGroup since 1991.
We continue to focus on recovering more, finding useful applications for materials, improving how we process them and being transparent about the outcomes we can support.
Part of the Industry. Part of the Community.
EcoGroup has grown alongside Victoria’s building, demolition, bricklaying and landscaping industries, and staying connected to those communities remains important to us. We support local sporting organisations, industry events, schools, training initiatives and environmental programs, including partnerships such as Baseball Victoria and support for bricklaying and trade initiatives. Through industry education and our Clayton facility, we also help people better understand what can be recovered, reused and kept in circulation across the construction industry.
